Central Heating oil

Central heating oil is a cost-effective, clean and easy way to keep properties warm. Around the UK, central heating oil is used by more than 1.5 million homes, with the fuel coming into its own in rural areas where mains gas access is sporadic.

Delivered to homes around the country and stored in tanks outside the home, central heating oil is both an efficient and dependable way to keep homes warm and water hot. Because heating oil has a low combustion rate, it requires relatively low levels of serviceability. Oftec recommends that external tanks should be inspected on an annual basis.

While there is a very low risk of a fire starting within a central heating oil tank, they do need to be protected from the external threat of nearby blazes.

So too, because it has a very low freezing point, central heating oil is a reliable way to keep property heated in areas where temperatures are liable to plummet in the winter months.

Indeed, central heating oil stays liquid at temperatures as low as -40C.

In addition to requiring low maintenance levels and providing a reliable way to heat the home, central heating oil also compares favourably to other methods of heating the home.

Research carried out by Sutherland Tables has shown that during the winter period between November 2007 and April 2008, the average central heating oil bill for a three-bedroom house came to £1,044, making it £276 cheaper than the typical liquid petroleum gas bill and comparable to the costs of using mains electricity to heat the home.

As well as being versatile, cost effective and reliable, Oftec explains that central heating oil is also one of the most clean-burning fuels available. Recent advancements in the manufacturing of central heating appliances mean that they typically have very low carbon dioxide emissions levels.
