Kingspan unveils heating oil tank alarm

Kingspan, the provider of electronic tank gauges, has released a new alarm system to help consumers deter heating oil thieves.

The Irish company has unveiled the new Watchman Alarm, which is a combined heating oil gauge and alarm system that has been designed specifically for the residential heating oil market.

Oil Fired Up reports that the new tool also features a buzzer that alerts customers when the heating oil tank is nearly empty, allowing them to ring their supplier before they run out.

When the level falls faster than 1.5cm per minute, the device emits a siren-type sound to warn homeowners of a theft or leak.

Earlier this month, the Environment Agency reminded heating oil customers to keep checking their heating oil tanks over the summer period to avoid suffering a leak due to corrosion and poor maintenance.

It warned that people often neglect their heating oil tanks over the summer because they are not in use.
